No matter what age you are, how much you have, how intelligent you are, etc, you will never have all the knowledge in the world or all the possessions. To put things a little into perspective, there are currently 7,760,114,935 people on the planet according to https://www.worldometers.info/world-population. In one’s own lifetime we are limited to a certain amount we can learn individually. This thought process is two-tiered.

1. Learnt skills/facts
2. Perception and ideas

  1. Learnt skills/facts
In our individual lifetimes, whether we gain our knowledge from general life experience, or our knowledge comes from a book/s, a college degree/course, or self taught skills we are almost all siloed into a certain way of thinking. I’m specialising in this or that. This is my knowledge.
We as individuals in one lifetime can only accumulate a certain amount of knowledge on our own, and it doesn’t matter how long you’ve been doing something. In almost every trade, lawyers, IT Professionals, carpentry, business, the knowledge and skills are all almost constantly evolving and changing. As an IT professional, I can say what’s popular today (technology) can be old news almost tomorrow. Thats how fast it goes. Laws are constantly changing to the needs of our evolving society, so the same goes for lawyers. We could’ve spend 20 years doing something and mastering a craft in a certain way but tomorrow a new set of improved skills might come into play.
  2. Perception and ideas
Most humans beings generally are unique and individual in every way. We all have our consciousness, thoughts and perceptions about the world we live in. So besides learnt facts, figures and a certain way of doing things practically, each individual perceive things in a different way. One could look at an orange and see its usefulness in a kitchen (using the peeled skin for aroma or something else) whereas another person could see it just being an object of fruit to satisfy ones hunger. So it can go in our personal and professional worlds. One person may see and perceive a solution and have a better angle than another. You may get really amazing relationship advice from a complete stranger that you bump into to.

This is where I begin, and it all starts with communication. The power of humility comes into play when we understand those two points above. When we are closed off due to our own ego’s on how of much we understand or know ourselves, we close and shut ourselves off from the rest of the world, or should I say the rest of the other 7,760,114,935 people who have accumulated a lifetime of experience and knowledge different to your own. And vice-versa — you may have a lot of knowledge and experience to share with the world. Having this core understanding immediately empowers you incredibly. Why? Because you have now opened yourself up to learning new things from others and you have not put any limiting ideas on yourself to limit that knowledge from flowing to you, i.e ageism, ego, etc. Just by being humble and having a certain sense of constant humility we are immediately boosted to allowing the flow of others perceptions and knowledge to enter into our being.
